Police investigating the alleged sex trafficking of women into the UK have charged four men.

Officers raided seven addresses across the south east on Wednesday, discovering a number of women thought to be victims. The majority of them were from Hungary.

Among those charged with conspiracy to traffic for sexual exploitation was 33-year-old UK resident Vishal Chaudhary from Pan Peninsula Square, by South Quay on the Isle of Dogs.

He was also charged with conspiracy to control prostitution for gain, dating from 2007 to last month.

He and three men based in north London were due to appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Friday.

Police are urging victims of trafficking to call the Met's free 24-hour hotline on 0800 783 2589.
