If you're taking a trip to the O2 this afternoon, listen out for the sounds of the capital's best buskers.

The North Greenwich venue has teamed up with The Brit Awards and The Mayor's Office to deliver a programme of free music in the main entrance.

The performers will take on a variety of songs from past Brit winners and nominees, with the tracks nominated by fans through the O2's Twitter and Facebook pages.

And, with the awards coming to the O2 stage tomorrow, Wednesday, the event aims to showcase the venue as the home of the Brits.

Mayor of London Boris Johnson says: 'Our gigs busking competition is the biggest one of its kind and turning out some wonderfully talented musicians.

"This is a fantastic opportunity to play to the thousands of people that head to The O2 every day.

"It's also their chance to be part of one of the biggest music events of the year.

"With top industry executives milling around, we could even be about to discover the next big thing in British music."
