Staff at KPMG's Canary Wharf headquarters are leading the way in its two-year fundraising mission.

The professional services company linked up with charities Dyslexia Action and the National Literacy Trust in November, with the intention of raising a sum of £1million for the organisations during the next couple of years.

In addition, staff will offer support through pro-bono work and volunteering.

This month, a total of 1,600 staff and partners working in KPMG's offices across the country donated their first hour's salary of 2013 to the First Hour appeal for the charities.

The final amount raised was £123,770, the highest ever raised by the initiative, with those at the Canada Square office pledging a hefty £30,000 chunk to secure the biggest donation.
