Transport cops have released a photo of a man they are looking for after a Somalian man and his daughter were subjected to a tirade of racist abuse on a train.

The 26-year-old victim and his 15-month-old child got on the service from Stratford at 4pm on Friday, January 4.

They sat opposite a man who started shouting racist abuse at the pair.

PC Dean Percival said: "The man then stood up and approached the daughter in the pushchair, continuing his abuse and acting aggressively.

"When the man left the service at Hackney Wick, he punched the train window behind the victim around 10 times whilst continuing to shout and swear.

"Understandably this left the victim feeling very threatened and fearing for his own, and his daughter's safety.

"The man's behaviour was utterly unacceptable and we are determined to find the person responsible.

"If you were on the train that day, or recognise the man in the picture, then please get in touch."

Call British Transport Police on 0800 40 50 40 quoting B14/LNA of 09/01/2013.

I'm pretty sure that the use of the term "Somalian" is incorrect here. In any case it sounds old referring to an individual just by their place of birth/race/ethnicity
