Man charged over Wapping Woods stabbings
A 32-year-old man has appeared in court in relation to the stabbing of two lone women in separate attacks in Wapping.
At Thames Magistrates Court on Thursday, Sijil Miah of Burwell Close in Shadwell was charged with two counts of attempted murder and two counts of possession of a knife in a public place.
The incidents took place on December 4 and December 29 against women aged 38 and 26 in Wapping Woods off Garnet Street.
- Meanwhile, a public reassurance meeting following the incidents is due to be held by police at St George's Town Hall in Cable Street, Wapping, on January 8 at 7pm.
Inspector Steve Cook of the Safer Neighbourhood Team will chair the meeting. Also attending is Borough Commander Chief Superintendent Dave Stringer.
