Drug cops discovered 600 cannabis plants at an address in Tower Hamlets.

The bust took place at a home in Uamvar Street near Langdon Park DLR on Monday after officers received information about drug activity. The top two floors had been turned into a cannabis factory.

Police arrested a 29-year-old man and a 40-year-old man at the scene. The duo remain in police custody.

Enquiries also led police to an address at Arbour Square in E1, where more drug cultivating equipment was found.

Tower Hamlets Chief Superintendent Dave Stringer praised the work by his Partnership Task Force.

"They got information relating to the production of cannabis, quickly went round to the address you can see in the picture and seized what we think are about 600 cannabis plants, arresting two people at the scene," he said.

Ch Spt Stringer invited the borough's mayor Lutfur Rahman to inspect the haul.

"It was good to see our joint work with the police in action," said Mayor Rahman. "Tackling crime and working to ensure residents feel safe in the areas where they live is a priority for me."
