Two men rescued from flat fire
Firefighters rescued two men from a burning building in the early hours of this morning.
The blaze damaged a restaurant and flats on West India Dock Road.
Crew manager Charlee Barclay said: "Crews wearing breathing apparatus rescued two men who were trapped by smoke in the flats above the restaurant, and six other people evacuated themselves from the floors above. Crews did well to contain the fire swiftly and prevent it from spreading."
Around 20 firefighters from Poplar, Millwall and shadwell brought the fire under control at 6.34am.
London Fire Brigades fire investigation teams and the police are investigating the cause of the blaze.
