Silver medalist from London 2012 Christine Ohuruogu returned to her east London roots to open the relaunched Gala Bingo club in Stratford.

The 400m runner got a standing ovation from bingo-lovers as she entered the hall last Friday following the £1.5million investment.

Ohuruogu, who grew up less than a mile from the Olympic Stadium, met the crowd while posing for photos and signing autographs.

She said: "I spent most of my childhood in the town. The buzz in Stratford, as well as the sense of community, is not only in the Olympic stadium but here in the club also."

Gala also presented her with a cheque for £1,000 for the Mo Farah Foundation.
