Greenwich's Gemma Gibbons won a silver medal after losing in the final of the judo to America's Kayla Harrison.

Charlton-born Gibbons, who trained at Blackheath's Metro Judo Club as a child, lost 2-0 in the under-78kg division.

After beating three top 10 rivals to get to the final, the 25-year-old Brit did not have enough to overcome Harrison, who also won gold in the 2010 World Judo Championships.

Gibbons' silver at the Excel Centre was Britain's 14th medal of the 2012 Olympics. It was also Britain's first in judo in 12 years.
