Transport police hunt duo over DLR assault

A man was repeatedly punched in the face after trying to prevent a woman being verbally abused on a DLR train.

Police have released CCTV images of the suspect and his associate in relation to the attack on the at 11.20pm on Friday, May 25, as the train went westbound from Limehouse to Shadwell.

Detective Constable Paul Miller, the investigating officer, said the duo were verbally abusing a female when the attack happened.

"One of the men suddenly punched the victim and continued his attack with further punches as the victim bravely tried to defend himself," he said.

"We have made local enquiries but have been unable to identify the attacker, I am now appealing for the public to come forward with information that I believe will assist the investigation."

The 42-year-old victim was left needing stitches to a three-quarter inch cut to his head.
