Police appeal after Royal Docks assault victim dies

A man who police believe was assaulted in a property on Victoria Docks and then dragged on to the street by his ankles has died from his injuries.

Officers are still appealing for information on the incident which took place on May 21 just after 8pm.

Zahir Bouchia, 43, of Shaw House on Claremont Street died in the early hours of Wednesday - over two weeks after the incident.

He was being treated at the Royal London Hospital. A post mortem is due to take place today.

Detectives from the Homicide and Serious Crime Command (HSCC) under Acting Det Chf Insp John Nicholson are now leading the inquiry. He said: "We believe that Mr Bouchia was assaulted at a property in Shaw House.

"He was then dragged by his ankles to the corner of Claremont Close and Woodman Parade where he was dumped until emergency services attended.

"I would urge any witnesses to come forward and help us bring those responsible to justice".

Police have already charged a 42-year-old man over the attack. A 46-year-old woman was arrested and bailed.
