British Airways has increased its flights from London City Airport to Ibiza and Majorca to now operate them for all 12 months of the year.

The routes had been summer-only destinations but the decision to increase them comes as a result of their ongoing popularity since being launched by the airline two years ago.

The off-season flights are being targeted at those with second homes in the area or those looking for some winter sun, with average temperatures around 15 degrees in January.

BA Cityflyer's general manager commercial Luke Hayhoe said: "Leisure flying is a really important part of our business now from London City.

"Winter sun breaks are a very popular market and with London City's unique 20 minute check-in time with luggage customers can leave the gloom of winter and be in the sun in less than three hours."

The airline will be continuing its extensive summer schedule to each of the islands and then from October will be operating two flights a week, running Thursdays and Sundays.

Fares will start at £75 per person.
