Workers on the DLR are set for £2,500 bonuses for working during this summer's Olympic Games.

Transport union RMT has said it has secured an 'attendance payment' of £900 as well as guaranteed overtime payments throughout the Olympics and Paralympics.

All DLR staff will be given £100 extra per week for the nine-week period.

They will also be guaranteed a minimum of five hours a week overtime.

RMT general secretary Bob Crow said: "This is a truly groundbreaking deal raising the bar in the industry and putting £2,500 in our members pockets as a reward for the extra workload and pressure they will carry throughout the Olympics and Paralympics period.

"The deal also reflects the hard work of our negotiating team and shows yet again that the organising strategy of RMT delivers the best pay and conditions time and time again."
