BNY Mellon extends Canary Wharf deal

Investment management firm BNY Mellon has signed a deal with Canary Wharf Group to rent space on the estate until 2022.
The group agreed an eight year extension to its lease, which was due to run out at the end of 2013, on six floors of One Canada Square.
A rent-free period of 18 months will take place from January 2014. The tenant also has a break option in 2019 for levels 40 and 41 of the tower.
The deal sees BNY Mellon pay a rent of £42.50 per sq ft. It rents 150,000 sq ft in the One Canada Square.
The firm also has office space in Queen Victoria Street in the City.
CWG's head of leasing Richard Archer said: "BNY Mellon has been a highly valued tenant at Canary Wharf for over 13 years and we are delighted that it has agreed to extend its occupation.
"This is another vote of confidence in both Canary Wharf and London."
