Health and Beauty Focus: Makeover

wiq142.JPGMore is most definitely more this season with hair and make-up trends focusing on glamour.

Stylist Keely Klein from Klein's Hair and Beauty on West India Quay credits the girls from The Only Way Is Essex with pointing ladies in the direction of making an effort.

If you can't handle being groomed within an inch of your life to pop out for a pint of milk then there is no reason not to go to town for a special occasion.

And with Christmas party season just around the corner there will be plenty of opportunity to wow your colleagues with just how fabulous you can look at this year's office festivities.

Klein's can put your hair up, paint your face and cater to a host of beauty needs.

I visited the firm's Port East Warehouse branch in Hertsmere Road to undergo my own transformation from windswept scruff to glamour puss.

Heading out to a gig in the evening I wasn't looking for anything too formal or polished.

Keely suggested smoky eyes for a rock chick look and explained monochrome was another big trend for autumn/winter. Lashings of mascara, charcoal eyeshadow with a sweep of silver and a bold streak of liquid eyeliner later, and my eyes were looking huge and gorgeous.

Lips stayed neutral with a pink gloss and my slight tan was boosted with powder. Time for a hairstyle to match my newly glammed-up face.

Keeping to the theme we went for a funky, slightly messy "up" do with a sleek fringe. The look lasted the night, standing up to sweaty crowds and spilled drinks. Next time I should really take it somewhere more ladylike.

Prices start at £40 for hair and £50 for make-up. The salon is open late until 8.30pm from Tuesday to Friday and is open at weekends.
