Delta Beach plans are still on the table for Greenwich
Plans to use a beach on Greenwich Peninsula for entertainment next summer are still being pursued.
Greenwich Council has received a planning Delta Beach, on the western side of the peninsula, for the building of a stage, beach hut and car park for a series of live events from next March.
The application was submitted to the Council on September 7, but has only been published today. Delta Beach forms part of the proposed Peninsula Festival planned to coincide with the 2012 Olympics.
That had its licensing applications turned down by Greenwich Council on Wednesday, but promoters Orange Connections are still determined to stage events on the peninsula, not just next year, but until 2025.
Under the new application Delta Beach would be used for events, including music, sport and hospitality, from March 1 to September 2.
Residents in Greenwich and the Isle of Dogs opposed the licensing application, and are likely to be concerned that Orange Connections have lodged the new application.
Consultation has opened on the proposal and a decision is expected from the planning committe towards the end of November.

This application is obviously a joke, or least I hope it is! Residents on the Island have to contend with enough noise emanating from Greenwich already when concerts are held in the grounds of the Naval College. I notice that the company director of Orange Connections is listed as living in Wokingham, well away from any noise and disturbance his beach will cause locals.
