Man dies after being hit by DLR train
A man was killed after being hit by a DLR train at Custom House station last Friday evening.
The man, who has not been named but is believed to be 42-years-old and from Sutton Coldfield, was hit by the train at around 9.30pm. Emergency services were called and the man was taken to hospital, where he later died of his injuries.
An eyewitness told The Wharf: "I was at Excel for the AV referendum count. On leaving at 9.30, the DLR station was closed due to a person under a train there. From the station footbridge, I could see emergency services attending to the incident, about 100 yards East of the station."
Police confirmed that the death is not being treated as suspicious.
The DLR service was suspended between Custom House and Excel from the time of the incident until 11.23pm.
