Bungee jumping at The 02

ee-Nov11-BungeeWEB.jpg In an insatiable quest for adventure and excitement I decided to throw myself off a 160ft crane overlooking The O2, strapped to my boyfriend and a bungee cord.

We took the plunge in a Lovers Leap experience, taking in the magnificent views along the Thames while hurtling towards the ground with only an elastic band to save us.

The experience starts by getting you strapped tightly into the bungee harness, being weighed and allocated the appropriate jump cord before entering the jump site. Here you are harnessed by the jump crew and then you're in the hot seat ready to be lifted to vertigo-inducing heights.

The climb to the jump gets the adrenaline going and my legs begin to shake, all the while wondering why the hell I'm putting us through this ordeal - I had thought it might be romantic.

You hear the words 'three, two, one, bungee...' you hold your breath then scream like there's no tomorrow into your loved one's ear. After falling for a few seconds you then realise the bungee cord has done its job as it recoils and bounces you up an down, dangling upside-down, leaving you with an incredible headrush.

Being pushed out of the cage took my breath away and the feeling of free falling is incredible, but it is all over in a matter of seconds, leaving you wanting to go higher and push the limits.

You are then pulled down to a crash mat for a little lie down before popping the cork of half a bottle of champagne to help you recover.
