Preview: West Ham v Bolton Wanderers
West Ham play their first home game of the season tomorrow looking to exorcise some footballing demons.
The Irons failed to perform last Saturday when they were thrashed at Villa Park while tomorrow's visitors, Bolton Wanderers, are their bogey team, having beaten the Hammers in all of their last six meetings.
Manager Avram Grant is looking for a positive reaction from his players, with a home win crucial to get their season going.
He said: "One of the things you've seen in all of my teams before is they react well after a defeat like this. There is a lot to learn from this game, and we will learn.
"It's the beginning of the season. We spoke with the players when I started. I told them I want to see how they react after we win and after we lose. Of course we wanted to win the first game, but when you play away from home anything can happen. We didn't want to lose the game, but we lost."
"I was not pleased with the performance and the result. We didn't play well. We didn't pass the ball well, we didn't play quick."
A big improvement is neeed in front of their home fans and Grant is likely to partner new signing Frederic Piquionne with Carlton Cole up front as he goes looking for goals.
Thomas Hitzlsperger, Valon Behrami and Benni McCarthy are all likely to miss out, while Pablo Barrera could again feature from the bench.
