Leeds 3 Millwall 1
Millwall's unbeaten start to the season came grinding to a halt with a comprehensive 3-1 defeat at Leeds.
Despite taking the lead at Elland Road on Saturday two late goals from Leeds substitute David Somma saw the home side to victory.
With both sides familiar with each other after slugging it out in League One for the past couple of years there was plenty of action for fans to enjoy.
And it was Millwall who drew first blood, when ex-Lion Richard Naylor headed past Caspar Schmeichel in the 15th minute as he tried to clear a Steve Morison cross.
In a ding-dong first half both sides created chance aplenty, with Schmeichel called into action on more than one occasion to keep out Kevin Lisbie and James Henry.
Leeds main threat came from Sanchez Watt, but it was ex-Charlton winger Lloyd Sam who put the home side level when he latched onto a Becchio through ball to slot past David Forde.
Millwall were under severe pressure and did well to keep the score at 1-1 as Leeds continued to attack, and Kenny Jackett's men were relieved to get to the half-time break without conceding a second goal.
After the intensity of the first period, the second half was less frenetic.
Darren Carter almost grabbed a goal for Millwall when he headed just over but it was to be Leeds' day.
With 11 minutes left Watt put a fine cross over from the right for Somma to hammer home to give Leeds the lead.
Liam Trotter almost levelled moments later, only to see his shot saved miraculously by Schmeichel.
As Millwall pushed forward for an equaliser they were caught on the break in the fourth minute of added time, when Darren Ward allowed Somma too much time on the ball and the striker lashed home from just inside the box to seal victory.
Kenny Jackett was philosophical about the reverse, which pushed Millwall down to sixth place in the Championship.
He said: "They were on the front foot more than us and they were sharper to the ball than us.
"It was like a cup final for Leeds and they had so many chances. They were looking for their first win, they had a big crowd behind them and then there was their recent record against us - maybe all these things add up."
