DBC unveils plans for annual awards

Docklands Business Club has announced its plans for this year's annual awards.
The group, working alongside East London Chamber of Commerce, will be holding the black tie event at the Hilton Hotel in Rotherhithe on September 22.
The evening's entertainment will begin with a river boat drinks cruise sponsored by London City Airport and City Cruises. Lead sponsor of the awards dinner is Canary Wharf Group.
Gay Harrington, CWG's social and economic development manager, said: "I welcome these important awards on behalf of all those who have entered or will be attending the celebrations to see them handed over.
"They always mark another milestone in the progress of Thames Gateway as a thriving economic and social entity."
There will be eight awards at the 26-year-old event, including new business, established business and business person of the year.
Along with The Wharf, which is again sponsoring the business person of the year prize, other backers of the event include Barclays, 2B Interface, East London Business Place, East London Small Business Centre, Knowledge Dock, London Chamber of Commerce and Quay People.
DBC chairman Rita Beckwith said: "Without the strong backing of our sponsors it would not be possible to sustain our business awards as a regular and respected feature of the East London and Thames Gateway business scene."
