A place in the sun with beach views

Surfing is one of the things that Cornwall does best.
And a Cornish property developer is encouraging city dwellers to grab a slice of the surfing action, right on their own sea-front doorstep.
Savvy buy-to-let investors should ride the wave of the property downturn and snap up property in Cornwall - a sought-after "failsafe area" with universal appeal, according to developer Acorn Blue.
Nicola Markham, sales director of Acorn Blue, said: "Newquay is the ideal destination for those wishing to escape the stresses of city life.
"Buyers have a new found confidence in the property market since the recession. We have noticed an increase in inquiries, indicating that potential purchasers feel now is the time to buy."
Newquay attracts around 750,000 visitors a year, drawn to North Cornwall's scenery, amenities and spectacular beaches, especially Fistral Beach, one of the major surfing centres on the South West coast.
The developer is offering investors who are seeking both a lifestyle and financial investment a collection of new surfer-pod style apartments overlooking Fistral Beach.
Their developments Zinc, Pearl, Azure and Cribbar are located on the Headland Road - dubbed Newquay's Millionaires Row.
Aimed at young wave hunters, or for those who want a weekend escape from the rat race, the properties also offer attractive rental opportunities for investors due to the strong holiday rental market.
Acorn Blue is offering a six per cent rental return for three years on selected apartments.
Gail Streatfeild, of selling agent Knight Frank, said: "Purchaser confidence has renewed in Cornwall due to buoyant sales in the second half of 2009 and the second home market for properties has bucked the trend of the market.
"In Newquay we are seeing good sales volumes with buyers seeking an investment which they can then enjoy for their own holidays."
The four developments offer a range of styles, from the contemporary modern apartments at Zinc, the boutique style homes at Pearl or the sea views from the private terrace at Cribbar.
Those with large families or who enjoy entertaining friends could also consider the five-bedroom penthouse at Azure, which occupies the whole fourth floor.
Prices at these four developments range from £199,950 for a two bedroom apartment to £525,000 for a three bedroom apartment.
Prices for the penthouses range from £395,000 to £1,350,000.
