Excel provide £6million boost

The Excel centre has provided a massive boost to London business by securing events worth an estimated £6million in the last six months.
It is believed the conferences would bring in £100million for the capital.
The deals have all been struck since London Mayor Boris Johnson announced the Royal Docks-based centre would be the capital's first International Convention Centre last year.
Excel's director of conferences and events James Rees said: "The sheer number and quality of events that ICC London Excel is attracting clearly illustrates why London, and indeed the industry as a whole, has needed an international convention centre.
"London is one of the finest cities in the world.
"We are relishing the opportunity to play a key part in completing its business tourism product, bringing with it a massive economic benefit for the city and, most importantly, as a private organisation, at no cost to the tax-paying public."
Conferences are being booked up to 2015. Forthcoming events include the European Conference on Optical Communications, which will have about 4,000 delegates in 2013, and the European Federation of National Association of Orthopaedics and Traumatology in 2014, which should attract 8,000 people.
The money is estimated to come from delegate spending during the events.
