Behrami demands West Ham attitude change

westham.jpgValon Behrami has called on his West Ham team-mates to be mentally strong after last Saturday's 2-1 home defeat to Bolton.

The Swiss midfielder admitted losing the relegation clash to the Lancashire outfit was a big disappointment and wants to see an improved attitude when the Irons meet Chelsea and Arsenal in their next two games.

He said: "The approach has to be different. We need to do something special after, to go away and try to win the games. We can do something special, but we have to play 100 per cent mentally and physically.

"It is not so easy, because we are a team where everyone has to give 100 per cent. If even one gives just 80 per cent, we won't win the game.

"The way we started aginst Bolton, the mentality was poor and was different to what we have had when we have done well. When you concede in the Premier League early from a single mistake it is difficult. We know it will be hard this season. It was already hard but it is harder now."

The Hammers, Behrami included, were not at their best against Bolton. The 24-year-old said rectifying mistakes is easy, but restoring confidence is a different matter.

He said: "When you do make a technical mistake you can work on it and it is not a problem. It is easy to get right if you keep working on it.

"But the problem is bigger when it is a mental issue. We need to change something because now the situation is not good for us. We have to change our mentality."
