Top Brits set for Canary Wharf squash showdown

ff-mar19-squash.jpgThe ISS Canary Wharf Classic will see the cream of English talent slug it out at the East Wintergarden next month.

The draw for the event was made on Monday, with top seed Nick Matthew likely to meet three-time Wharf champion James Willstrop in the semi-finals.

Matthew, current world number two, last week won the British National title in Manchester and will be strongly fancied to pick up his first Canary Wharf crown.

Local favourite, Limehouse's Peter Barker, is seeded fourth and faces wild card Adrian Waller in the first round. He should meet Frenchman Gregory Gaultier if he makes it to the semi-finals.

Defending champion David Palmer will also be in action, although he will have to wait until the qualifying tournament is completed the weekend before the tournament to discover who his first round opponent will be.

The tournament runs from March 22-26. Tickets are on sale from ticketmaster.co.uk or by calling 0844 847 2419.

First round draw:

Matthew v qualifer

Lincou v qualifier

Willstrop v Ghosal

Selby v Momen

Walker v Khan

Barker v Waller

Palmer v qualifier

Gaultier v qualifer
