Millwall 1 Exeter 0
Millwall kept their League One promotion hopes alive with their fifth win in a row but left it late.
Neil Harris was the hero as he curled home an 81st minute free-kick to earn the Lions all three points at The Den when they looked destined to have to settle for a point.
It had looked as though an inspired goalkeeping performance from Exeter's Andy Marriott would frustrate the home side as the veteran Welshman produced a string of excellent saves to keep his team on level terms.
Marriott denied Steve Morison and Shaun Batt with fine stops inside the first 12 minutes and went on to prove an impenetrable barrier for most of the game, particularly when denying Morison again in the second half.
But there was nothing the 39-year-old could do to stop Harris scoring his ninth goal of the season as the fans' favourite curled the ball home from 20 yards, after Matthew Taylor had fould substitute Jon Obika.
The game went from bad to worse for Exeter when they saw Barry Corr sent off for a foul on Alan Dunne in the 89th minute.
For Millwall manager Kenny Jackett the win was a relief, particularly as the Lions were the only side in the play-off positions to win at the weekend.
He said: "They were very hard to break down, particularly until late in the game where they opened up a bit.
"It made it tough but we came through at the end and it was a terrific win for us."
