West Ham guilty of failing to control fans
West Ham have been found guilty of two charges of failing to control their fans at the Carling Cup game against Millwall last August.
The Football Association charges that the Irons failed to prevent violent behaviour and failed to prevent fans entering the field of play were upheld by an independent tribunal.
The Hammers were cleared of charges of racist behaviour and missile throwing.
But the club now face a sanction to be decided by an independent commission on Friday. They are likely to be slapped with a fine or a suspended sentence.
Millwall were cleared of the three charges laid against their fans - violent behaviour, racist behaviour and throwing missiles - vindicating the club's decision to defend their position as the away tea,.
The charges were brought following violence inside and outside the Boleyn Ground on August 25 when West Ham fans invaded the pitch several times.
A Millwall fan was stabbed outside the ground and there were skirmishes between rival fans and police all evening.
West Ham won the game 3-1 after extra time.
The matter was considered by an independent tribunal for three days last week, with both clubs giving evidence.
More than 20 people have been charged by police in connection with disorder inside and outside the ground.
