Officers to conquer City tower for Robyn Higgins
Officers from the Isle of Dogs are planning to conquer one of the City of London's tallest buildings to raise funds for a girl's life-saving treatment.
The group of eight will join other PCs at Tower 42 on January 22, where they will attempt to scale the 42-storey building's 920 steps.
Those involved from the Manchester Road police station are Louise Bradford, Mike Douglas, Matthew Ng, Jordan Khodaverdi, Matthew O'Driscoll, Serdor Demirelli, Gurpreet Dhamrat and Adam Jarman.
The run is being organised in aid of Robyn Higgins, the seven-year-old daughter of a Met detective constable who has a rare childhood cancer known as Neuroblastoma.
Her parents hope to raise £300,000 for antibody treatment which is only available at New York's Memorial Sloan-Kettering hospital.
Another group of officers completed a 170-mile overnight cycle run in the capital for the appeal back in November.
PC Gurpreet Dhamrat said: "A lot of people across London are raising money so Robyn can have a better chance.
"I think some of those taking part will be better prepared than others. Some are ex-military, whereas I will probably be one of those struggling.
"I've been cycling in and out of London a lot recently. I might be slightly underprepared compared to some, but I don't mind getting out of breath for a good cause."
