Meet rugby legend Brian Moore in Canary Wharf

ff-jan14-moore.JPGOne of England's all-time rugby greats is set to be unleashed in Canary Wharf tomorrow afternoon.

Brian Moore, the fiery heart of England's fearsome pack in the early 1990s, will be at Waterstone's in Jubilee Place Mall from 12.30pm to sign copies of his autobiography Beware of the Dog: Rugby's Hard Man Reveals All.

Known as Pitbull because of his ferocious playing style, Moore won 64 England caps between 1987 and 1995 in what was a golden age for the national side.

He helped England to Grand Slams in 1991, 1992 and 1995, as well as to the 1991 World Cup Final where they lost 12-6 to Australia.

Acknowledged as one of the finest hookers in the world, he played on the British & Irish Lions tours of 1989 and 1993, and was also a stalwart of the Harlequins club side.

But Moore's book dwells on more than just rugby. It includes the shocking revelation about his being sexually abused as a child, something he used as a catalyst to drive him throughout his sporting career but which blighted his personal life.

Since hanging up his boots Moore, now 47, has gone on to establish himself as a pugnacious pundit on television and in print. He's also a solicitor, but he revealed a gentler side to his character when - incredibly - he qualified as a manicurist.

For reservations call the store on 020 7719 0688.

Dear Wharf,

I have been asked to paint a portrait of Brian Moore for a charity auction piece. Is there any chance you have this image of Brian Moore in a high res file that I can use to paint from it?

Thank you
