An exhibition billed as edgy and dynamic has seen a Greenwich shop turned into an art-filled living room.

The show, called See Through Rose Tinted, has been organised by Greenwich resident Katie Rose Whiting and includes the work of 20 artists from the borough and the curator's home town of Hastings.

She said: "The point is to bring life to an empty room and also to make the high street here in Greenwich more exciting.

"These artists are the real deal and there's no pretence. It is a concept that asks more from the viewer.

"The works appear a certain way but, on closer inspection, there are hidden meanings, which could be missed at first glance.

"The present-ation invites the viewer to absorb the works but adds greater depth."

The exhibition is a collaboration between Whiting, who is also a fashion designer, and artist Ben Oakley.

It is based next to the Admiral Hardy pub in College Approach and will be running from now until December 24.

Whiting, who graduated from the University of East London with a first in fashion design in 2007, said she came up with the idea in order to help give her artist friends more public exposure.

The exhibition, which has been up and running for two weeks, has seen a number of works sold to visitors.

Whiting, 24, said: "I've got these talented friends but not all of them have got business heads.

"With this exhibition I wanted to get their work out there for people to see and so the artists can make some money.

"It's also about making the people who come here happy."

The works include sculpture, ceramics, paintings and limited edition prints.

The exhibition is taking place the borough after the Greenwich Hospital Trust offered the use of its premises.

It is being sponsored by south London group The Big Art Affair.
