Rivals remember teenage victims
It is being billed as a heated derby between two sides who have not met for 13 years.
But Saturday's match between Charlton and Millwall will see the League One teams put aside their differences for two teenagers who were killed in high-profile attacks last year.
Charlton fan Rob Knox and Millwall supporter Jimmy Mizen both died in street violence in 2008.
To mark Saturday's match both sets of parents will be introduced to fans, while on the pitch clubs will wear special kits with the Street Violence Ruins Lives logo instead of their usual shirt sponsors.
In a statement, Colin and Sally Knox, whose son actor Rob was stabbed in Sidcup, Kent, said: "This is a fitting tribute to the lives of Rob and Jimmy. Rob was a passionate Charlton fan and if this initiative stops just one other young person from dying at the hands of street violence then it will be a huge success.
"We want to use this game to once again urge the Government to introduce tougher laws for those caught carrying a knife.
"We want a six-month mandatory custodial sentence for this and we hope the Government will look at this issue with the same seriousness as Charlton and Millwall."
Barry and Margaret Mizen, whose son Jimmy was stabbed in Lee, south-east London, added: "Both football clubs should be applauded for the way they are setting an example across the football community to increase awareness of this problem.
"Jimmy was a Millwall fan and this match is a fitting tribute to both boys. This initiative will hopefully make kids think twice about their actions."
The all-ticket match at The Valley on Saturday was expected to be a tense affair as the sides have not met since 1996.
The clubs decided to dedicate the match to the two fans after talks with the Metropolitan Police and football authorities.
KRBS and CYC Logistics, which sponsor the sides, agreed to remove their branding for the match to publicise the Street Violence Ruins Lives.
Activities will take place on the day to raise funds for both clubs' community operations.
