Meantime has signed a lease on a new brewery just ten minutes walk from the O2 arena.

The Greenwich brewer - which creates a range of beers from London pale ale to pilsner and stout - will start shipping out beer from the £1.5million facility in Blackwall Lane next summer.

The 30,000 square foot premises will feature a fully-automated 50 hectolitre brewhouse, and will allow the brewer to double its existing capacity overnight. This will enable it to quadruple its current 12,000 HI production. It will also ensure that the company remains in the Greenwich area.

Brewmaster and founder Alastair Hook claimed the move would "put Meantime firmly on the map of London".

Brilliant news! Great little brewery and can only get better as it grows.

One does wonder though whether this will mean its prices will increase yet further. Real ale made by Meantime is generally already very overpriced.
