I hope 2010's a good year for all

Canary Wharf's Community Christmas Reception is always an enjoyable event at which the Group invites along local community organisations and their representatives for a seasonal social get-together.

Everyone has a great evening, partaking of some Canary Wharf hospitality.

Throughout the year, community groups work hard on behalf of local people, and CWG recognises that fact, and backs them in that endeavour.

For anyone who might be sceptical about how the business world and local people cohere, this event demonstrates a spirit of mutual respect.

Talking of goodwill, I've been touched by the number of messages from people wishing me good luck for my forthcoming operation.

There have even been phone messages from people who haven't left their name, just wanting to wish me all the best. Thanks to all those who have got in touch - it's a real morale booster.

Before I head off to the operating theatre, I'll be joining my staff for our Christmas lunch - this year at Mudchute Kitchen, which does some fantastic grub.

We're all looking forward to it. Sorry in advance to llamas, sheep and other animals at Mudchute that don't like the sound of crackers being pulled.

We will try to keep the noise down. Finally, Happy Christmas and seasonal holidays to all, and I hope 2010 is a good one - for all of us.

We have a chance to vote out this government and this joker too!

The year will be a good one if we get rid of this pathetic government

A lot of Tory trolls on here recently. Perhaps they're drawn to the blue colour scheme?

If this is the quality of debate we can expect in the run-up to the election, I may consider hibernating until June.
