Greatlondonswim.JPGIt might be the last thing on your minds as the weather gets colder but Wharfers are being invited for a swim in the Royal Docks.

Luckily you won't have to get your feet wet until next summer, when it should be little bit warmer, as entries are now open for the 2010 British Gas Great London Swim.

The first Great London Swim, a one mile public swimming event in Royal Victoria Dock, took place last summer with over 1,000 participants, including Olympic medallists David Davies and Cassie Patten.

The event is one of four one-mile swims being staged across the UK and Colin Hill, event project manager for Great Swim, hopes to build on the momentum gained this year when open water swimming began to grab the public's attention.

He said: "The Great Swim team are now looking forward to 2010 and hope that these televised events will help bring a whole new audience and participants to take part alongside the world's best elite swimmers."

The Great Swim is open to swimmers of all abilities aged 16 and over. For more information and to enter online go to greatswim.org.
