Festive football fixture round up

westham.jpgIt might be the holiday season for most of us but for footballers it's one of the busiest times of the year.

West Ham have a potentially crucial sequence of matches over the festive season, starting with the visit of rock-bottom Portsmouth to Upton Park on Boxing Day. Kick off is at 1pm.

That's followed by a tricky trip to White Hart Lane on Bank Holiday Monday to face in-form Spurs. It's a 12.45pm kick off and the Hammers will be hoping to catch Harry Redknapp's side napping as they look to avenge their 2-1 home defeat back in August.

Gianfranco Zola's men have a respite from league action on January 3 but no easy game. Instead they face Arsenal in the FA Cup third round, with kick off at 4.15pm.

Charlton play Swindon on Boxing Day looking to close the gap on League One leaders Leeds. Kick off is at 1pm.

On Monday the Addicks play Brentford at Griffin Park. They comfortably beat the west London side at The Valley in September and a repeat result would be welcome in the 3pm kick-off.

Charlton round-off their games at Walsall on January 2, having been knocked out of the FA Cup in the first round. The game kicks off at 3pm.

Millwall's Christmas programme starts with a tricky trip to Norwich and will need to be at their best on Boxing Day. The game starts at 12.45pm.

On Monday Bristol Rovers head to The Den in a 3pm kick off. The Lions then have a home FA Cup tie to look forward to when Derby County arrive on January 2. Nigel Clough's team have been patchy this season and could be on the end of a shock result.
