Davenport committed for crown court hearing
West Ham defender Calum Davenport has been committed for trial for assaulting his sister.
Davenport, who was charged with causing actual bodily harm to his sister Cara following an incident in Bedford on August 22, appeared at Bedford Magistrates Court yesterday.
He was committed to Luton Crown Court for a directions hearing on January 25, where he will plead not guilty.
Davenport, 26, was released on bail but on condition he has no contact with his sister.
The player, who was out of favour at West Ham at the time, was stabbed in the legs in the incident, prompting fears his career could be over.
