Strictly Gone Missing in Canary Wharf
Fans of Strictly Come Dancing were left disappointed this afternoon when two stars of the hit show got themselves in a tango trying to get to Canary Wharf.
Dancers James Jordan and Matthew Cutler missed their lift from west London for "unknown reasons" and failed to arrive for a 12.30pm book signing.
They and contestant Zoe Lucker were due to sign copies of the BBC show's 2010 annual, but although the actress was here on time the two professional dancers were not.
A large crowd of expectant fans had gathered in Jubilee Place mall but were informed by staff at Waterstone's that the signing had been delayed.
Wharfers who had queued through their lunch hours to meet their heroes started to drift away as the delay lengthened, many leaving unhappy.
One said: "It's a disgrace. If they said they were going to be here then they should have been here.
"How can they not manage to get into a car? I'm sure they aren't that busy.
"People only get an hour for lunch so they should have more consideration."
Another Wharfer added: "I was going to buy a copy of the book for my mum but I haven't got time to wait for them to arrive to sign it. It's really disappointing."
Mr Cutler and Mr Jordan eventually waltzed in at 2.20pm, but by then most of their fans had foxtrotted off.
