Stanislas is a Hammer happy to be on England duty
It might be international week but West Ham winger Junior Stanislas is glad he won't be getting any time off.
The 19-year-old will be putting his pace to good use with Stuart Pearce's England under-21 squad, who have a European Championship qualifier against Portugal at Wembley on Saturday.
For Stanislas, being involved with the young England team is a great way to spend his time.
He said: "I don't have a week off right now, that's for sure. I will hopefully play at Wembley for the under-21s, which is something to get very excited about. It will be a great experience to play there and a great honour for me to do so for England."
Stanislas came on as a half-time substitute for Jack Collison against Everton last Sunday, his first appearance since the Stoke game on October 17.
He almost scored but saw his goalbound shot helped in by Toffees' defender Tony Hibbert. He hopes his performance will persuade Gianfranco Zola to give him more opportunities.
He said: "I want to be playing all the time, but I am still young. I cannot complain that I was out of the team, but coming on was really good for me.
"I have just been working hard and been trying so hard to perform on the training pitch. For someone of my age, looking to learn and get better, I think that's really important and hopefully it will be enough to catch his eye and to get some games under my belt.
"I just want to keep improving and work on all aspects of my game, not just crossing and beating men, as I want to become a better all-round footballer. I just want to try and get in the team regularly."
The youngster paid tribute to the Hammers' management team of Steve Clarke and Zola for helping him develop.
He said: "They have had a massive impact on me, they were big players when they played the game. Zola has been doing a lot of individual work with us and I feel it is helping. He is really well respected around the club."
