David Haye eyes homecoming fight at The O2
David Haye is already planning the first defence of his world heavyweight title and it could be at The O2.
Bermondsey-born Haye won the WBA version of the crown when he defeated giant Russian Nikolai Valuev on points in Nuremburg on Saturday.
The 29-year-old should make his first defence in March or April next year, and is scheduled to meet mandatory challenger America's John Ruiz.
The new champion wants it to be on home turf in London. He has fought at The O2 twice before and is a big fan of the venue, although The Den - home of his favourite football team, Millwall - is another option.
He said: "I'd love to have a homecoming. I'd love to go back, if the John Ruiz fight goes ahead, and have it in The O2 arena, to show British fans a great night.
"I would maybe like to fight in Millwall, anywhere the fans can come down to. The more the merrier."
Should he beat Ruiz, Haye will look to have a unification bout against one of the Klitschko brothers, WBC title holder Vitali or Wladimir, who holds the IBF and WBO versions.
But before he gets back in the ring Haye will have to recover from a hand injury sustained when he punched Valuev early in Saturday's fight, which meant he had to box clever for the rest of the bout.
He won on a majority points decision to become Britain's first heavyweight world champion since Lennox Lewis in 2003.
