Green Living: Sustainable advertising

By Andrew Williams
The economic turmoil over the past 18 months has seen many of us start to re-evaluate whether the pursuit of wealth with no regard for others is really a sustainable solution. One man who knows all about life on both sides of the fence is Oliver Payne.
He is the founder of new sustainable advertising agency The Hunting Dynasty. Having previously worked for Saatchi & Saatchi and a stint with Ogilvy here in the Wharf, Oliver has now set up his own shop providing advertising exclusively for clients with sustainable or green products and services.
Oliver describes himself in slightly tongue in cheek style as a "poacher turned gamekeeper". I asked him how his time in the Wharf had affected his new approach to business.
"With The Hunting Dynasty I want to give the sustainable sector an unfair advantage: the sharpest minds in advertising.
"I was based at the Wharf from 2004 to 2009 and what I don't know about Kruger all day breakfasts isn't worth knowing! I miss them. It seems strange not to be in Canary Wharf every day."
With a background working for brands which many would perceive as being unsustainable, such as BP, Ford and Castrol, Oliver is now keen to bring his skills to bear on brands in need of a sustainable boost.
Currently The Hunting Dynasty is working to position the London School of Economics as a global leader in sustainability, as well as advising Discovery Channel presenter Justin Hall and Rainforest Alliance Certified tea.
- If you're working on a sustainable product or service and have a link to the Wharf area, please get in touch. It's always great to be able to profile businesses which are helping to establish the Wharf as a hotspot in the new sustainable world.
