Byron's burgers to take over Chili's site

AA-oct29-chilis1.jpgThe former Chili's restaurant site in Cabot Place is to be transformed into an upmarket burger restaurant.

The premises will be taken over by award-winning burger chain Byron's, which has several other restaurants in London, including outlets in Kensington and Kings Road.

Byron's is part of the Gondola Group, owners of Pizza Express, which will be a neighbour of the new restaurant.

It specialises in what it calls "proper burgers" made from beef sourced exclusively from small farms in Scotland. A classic burger costs £5.95, while its signature Byron burger - which includes dry cure bacon and mature cheddar - costs £8.25.

The site has been empty since Chili's parent company Hatfield Restaurants Ltd went into administration in June.

No details of when the new restaurant will open are available, while Canary Wharf Group would not comment.
