West Ham sign Mexican forward Guillermo Franco
West Ham have bolstered their squad with the signing of Mexican striker Guillermo Franco on a free transfer.
The 32-year-old was out of contract at Spanish outfit Villareal and has signed a one-year deal with the Hammers.
Despite being without a club Franco has been in good form for Mexico, hitting four goals in his last six internationals.
He signed his contract yesterday and admitted he was excited about joining the Irons.
He said: "I am really happy to sign for West Ham. It was my dream to come to the Premier League and I am proud to play for a club that has so much history.
"This is a very important stage in my career and I hope to score lots of goals for the club this season and then play at the World Cup.
Franco, who played for Villareal at the Bolern Ground in last year's Bobby Moore Cup match, could figure in the squad for Saturday's visit of Liverpool.
