Savio off as deadline looms for Hammers
It's transfer deadline day and West Ham have offloaded their club record signing just nine months after bringing him in.
Savio Nsereko has been sold to Italian side Fiorentina for an undisclosed fee, with Portuguese defender Manuel Da Costa coming to Upton Park as part of the deal.
It marks the end of a disappointing stint in London for 20-year-old Savio, who cost the club around £9million when the Irons signed him from Brescia in January.
The Ugandan-born German made just 11 appearances for the Hammers, 10 off the bench, and has not featured this season.
West Ham have managed to negotiate a clause giving them 50 per cent of any transfer fee should Savio move on from the Italian club.
Da Costa, a Portuguese under-21 international, will add to Gianfranco Zola's defensive options, although it looks likely that centre-back James Collins will join Aston Villa later today.
