Freddie Flintoff bowls over Canary Wharf crowds
England cricket star Andrew Flintoff dropped into Canary Wharf this afternoon to meet his adoring public.
The popular all-rounder, nicknamed Freddie, was signing copies of his new book Ashes to Ashes at Waterstone's in Jubilee Place mall and drew a big crowd.
Flintoff, 31, was on crutches as he continues his recovery from surgery on the knee that troubled him all summer as he helped England reclaim the Ashes from Australia.
He told The Wharf how delighted he was to round off his test career in with the dramatic fifth test win at The Oval.
He said: "I don't think you could ask for a better finish, to be honest with you. Last test match, victory over Australia to win the Ashes, it doesn't get much better."
Flintoff now plans to concentrate on being a one-day specialist, as long as he recovers fully from his injury.
For a full interview pick up your free copy of The Wharf on Thursday.
Ashes to Ashes is available from Thursday, published by Hodder & Stoughton and priced £18.99.
