Bristol Rovers 2 Millwall 0
Millwall slipped to their first league defeat of the season as a weakened side succumbed 2-0 at Bristol Rovers.
With a lengthy injury list Lions boss Kenny Jackett had limited options to choose from and it showed as the understrength visitors could not match the hosts.
Marc Laird joined the injury list before the game so Jackett included youngsters Kiernan Hughes-Mason and John Marquis in the squad, with the latter making his senior debut when he came on as a 49th minute substitute for Gary Alexander.
Also making his Lions bow was Danny Schofield, signed from Yeovil on transfer deadline day.
The patched up side struggled for rhythm and consistency in the first half and fell behind when Rovers were awarded a penalty after Andy Frampton fouled Jeff Hughes in the box.
Hughes picked himself up to slot home the spot kick.
The injury jinx struck again when Alexander was forced off with a heel problem just after half-time, giving Marquis his debut.
The youngster was involved almost immediately, his clever dummy setting up Ashley Grimes for a shot which Andersen pushed away for a corner.
Millwall picked up in the second period and pushed for an equaliser but their hopes were shattered when Chris Lines smashed a 25-yard effort past David Forde to double the home side's lead.
It was all one-way traffic after that and Millwall did well to keep the score down to 2-0.
