DLR chain attacker jailed

A woman has been sent to prison for beating a fellow DLR passenger around the head with a metal dog chain.
Lauren Gregson, 20, of Beaumont Grove in Stepney Green, was given a 40 week sentence for what police described as a "vicious attack".
The incident took place in March this year on a train between Canary Wharf and Tower Gateway.
Gregson and a friend, Victoria Flynn, from the Isle of Dogs, had been out drinking before they became involved in an argument with a man, also returning from a night out.
Detective Constable Paul Shakespeare, of British Transport Police's Community Safety and Workplace Violence Unit, said: "Words were exchanged after Gregson moved the victim's suitcase but the argument became heated and Flynn repeatedly punched the victim in the back of the head while Gregson lashed him around the head with a metal dog chain.
"This was a vicious attack on a man who was simply returning home after a night out and I hope that the sentences handed down to Gregson and Flynn send out the clearest possible message that this sort of violent behaviour will not be tolerated."
During the incident a train operator tried to calm down Gregson but she snatched his glasses and threw them on the tracks.

The women then fled the train at Limehouse but were traced by police using CCTV equipment.
Gregson, who pleaded guilty to common assault at Snaresbrook Crown Court, was given five weeks detention at a young offenders' institute for the attack, which would be served along with a 35-week sentence for breaching a suspended sentence.
Her accomplice, Flynn, 20, of Manchester Road, was given a 12-month community order at a previous hearing at Thames Magistrates Court in June.

I was on the DLR the Saturday evening this attack took place.
The behaviour was absolutely appalling. The DLR customer service agent tried to intervene and got attacked. A senior manager had to attend and eventually drive the train into Bank station. Everyone on the DLR tran was shocked.
There is a case for undercover train marshalls on DLR/underground/overground trains.
Yobs like these need to be kept under control and need to know that they won't get away with this feral behaviour.
I am very ashamed to say that Lauren Gregson is my estranged cousin. Her father passed away some years ago and I hope he cannot see what has become of the little girl he thought the world of.
We're all very sickened by her behaviour.
i know both girls very well, lauren is a silly girl. however Victoria flynn from Isle of Dogs is a bully, she is about to get sentanced again for ASBO. she is constantly drunk and always mouthing off, she was a ex crack head.
