Some of us are heading over to Kensington Roof Gardens this afternoon for a special presentation from some Brighton venues who are hoping to tempt us with their seaside wares.

Brighton holds a special place in my heart having lived there for three years and met my wife before moving up to London.

I imagine many Wharfers enjoy popping down to the coast for the weekend, to see how the laid-back, chilled-out other half live.

If you're planning a trip down to Brighton over the summer there are no shortage of green delights to investigate. After all, Brighton is home to Caroline Lucas MEP, the leader of the Green Party and potentially the Green's first MP.

Down the North Laine you can stop by Infinity Foods, a worker's co-operative producing fantastic fresh food which also operates a cafe. For a slightly more formal bite to eat you could visit Food For Friends on Prince Albert Street which attracts vegetarians from miles around with its tasty menu.

Back up in town the shopaholics will not be disappointed with what Brighton has to offer. Vegetarian Shoes is fairly self explanatory, and not far away is Traid, a charity shop which sells high end revamped vintage alongside more traditional odds and ends.

One of the great things about Brighton is how easy it is to get there by train - 50 minutes from Victoria.

Once you're there you'll find plenty of places to hire bikes and a network of cycle paths. Brightonians are friendly as a rule and most will give out of practice cyclists the benefit of the doubt.

If you want to stay over you could check out Paskins Townhouse which prides itself on its environmentally friendly approach.

Wherever you go, it's easy to be right on in Brighton.
