Patisserie decides to take bread to the boardroom
By Steven Davies

A patisserie has started a new service to deliver breakfast and lunch directly to offices around the Wharf.
Paul, originally a small French family-run bakery and patisserie from Croix, near Lille, is offering to bring sandwiches, salads, or pastries to workers' desks either for a personal lunch, or larger platters for business meetings.
Paul at Canary Wharf is, for the most part, a strictly take-away outlet, although there is a small seating area.
And while it may prove difficult to eat in during the lunchtime rush, this new operation aims to add another string to the patisserie's bow.
The delivery service is largely aimed at business functions, but personal orders are also welcome - although there is a minimum order of £25 so workers might have to join forces with colleagues to take advantage of the offer.
Manager at Canary Wharf Dan Ellis said: "We have created an entire new range of platters for delivery, but we will still deliver anything on the menu."
The delivery menu contains breakfast platters ranging from freshly cooked croissants and pain au chocolat, to escargot raisins (raisin Danish) or beignet framboises (raspberry doughnuts).

Lunch platters include a classic mix of Paul sandwiches, which range from Dieppois (tuna filling) to a more traditional sesame camembert.
The choice also includes traditional favourites: ham, salami, or chicken and vegetarian alternatives.
This can be followed by an authentic French patisserie platter of tartelettes, flans, and eclairs.
Paul will also deliver a range of made to order cakes, Dan said: "We can decorate them specially and write messages on them.
We seem to be doing this for a lot of office birthday parties at the moment.
"We also seem to deliver a large amount of patisserie platters and cakes on a Friday. I think people take them home for wives and girlfriends.
"We are happy with the way it is going. We are also now offering a free box of our macarons with your first order, this is proving very popular - people love them."
Although Paul offers a wide range of sandwiches, cakes, and salads, Dan maintains there is still one thing that makes Paul unique.
He said: "It is about our bread, our bread is what makes Paul so special. All our bread is baked freshly on site by our specialist bakers who take five years to train.
"They are skilled professionals and they work all night, so if you have a meeting at eight you are guaranteed freshly baked, piping hot, quality goods."
The bread at Paul uses flour from Camp Remy wheat, and is made in a traditional manner passed down through the family of the original owner.
Despite the current economic climate sales for Dan's delivery service seem to rising each month, Dan said: "People still have to eat, people still need to have meetings, there is always a need for catering.
"Also we are so much better than our competitors. Our prices are fair and in line with most other outlets."
Wharfer's can order online once an account has been created, by phone, or via fax.
Paul will deliver Monday to Friday from 7am to 3.30pm.
Breakfast orders must be placed by 4pm the previous day, and lunch orders by 10pm on the day. There is however a minimum order of £25.
