Millwall manager Kenny Jackett signs new deal
Millwall manager Kenny Jackett has signed a new three year contract with the club.
Jackett has made a big impression at The Den, steering the Lions to safety in 2007/08 and then to the League One play-off final last month, where they lost 3-2 to Scunthorpe United, and he now plans to build on that.
He said: "I'm pleased to commit myself to the next stage of Millwall's development and to build on the great strides we have made both on and off the field.
"As a group of players, management and staff, we are hungry to prove ourselves in the coming season with consistent quality performances.
"This is a club with tremendous potential as was demonstrated by the huge number of fans we took to the Play-off final.
"It is a potential that I, as manager, am eager to develop, and this contract with the backing from the chairman and board of directors, gives me the opportunity to realize this."
Jackett is already building for next season and has tied down Andy Frampton, Gary Alexander, Neil Harris, Scott Barron and Alan Dunne on new contracts, as well as bringing in striker Steve Morison from Stevenage. The club are also poised to sign Brighton keeper John Sullivan.
Chairman John Berylson was delighted to have secure Jackett for the next three years.
He said: "The progress we have made in 18 months under Kenny has been tremendous. He has taken us from the brink of relegation to the verge of promotion in that short period of time, and I am convinced the best is yet to come.
"It was important for us to have Kenny under contract for three more years because there is no doubt in my mind that other clubs will be casting envious glances in our direction before too long."
