Waitrose has confirmed a worker at its Canary Wharf branch has contracted swine flu.

The store at Canada Place mall said it will stay open following advice from the World Health Organisation and the Health Protection Agency.

The member of staff, who has not been to work for the last nine days, is receiving treatment and reported to be making a "good recovery".

A Waitrose spokesman said: "A partner at our Canary Wharf branch has been confirmed as having contracted swine flu.

"The partner, who has not been into the branch for nine days, has been treated with Tamiflu by their GP and is making a good recovery.

"We are acting under advice from the World Health Organisation and the Health Protection Agency who have advised that it is perfectly safe to keep the branch open."

So far there are 195 confirmed cases of swine flu in the capital.
